Kaycee Pittman
Greene County High School senior Kaycee Pittman finished in 62nd place among 136 runners at the Class 2A girls’ portion of the Iowa High School State Cross-Country Championships at Kennedy Park north of Ft. Dodge on Friday morning. Conditions were a bit chilly and breezy for the 10:30 a.m. race, which was just the fourth of Pittman’s life in cross-country. A volleyball player for the Rams, Pittman added cross-country as her fifth high school sport just a month ago. She ran the five kilometers (3.1 miles) in 21 minutes, 24.9 seconds, on the challenging State Meet course.
The individual winner for 2A girls in 18:20.7 was McKenna Montgomery of Albia.
Pittman was the lone State qualifier for the Rams, and the first girl from Greene County HS to run at State since Haley Hall in 2017. This season marks the fourth in a row the Rams have had an individual State Meet qualifier after Noah Hinote ran in boys’ races in 2022, ’23, and ’24.
