Charges against a Jefferson man were dismissed, due to his death.

According to court documents, 29-year-old Devon King died while waiting for trial on charges from an incident that allegedly occurred in 2022. King was facing a Class C Felony for a controlled substance violation, a Class D Felony for third offense for possession of methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor for possession of marijuana, a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges were from an investigation where King was identified through Facebook messenger about purchasing illegal drugs. A search warrant was done in his home, where drug-related items were recovered and tested positive for prescription medication, marijuana and methamphetamine.
