
A head-on collision in southwestern Greene County Wednesday afternoon results in multiple injuries.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, at 4:34pm a 2020 Jeep Compass was traveling south on Apple Avenue, when for unknown reasons, the driver, 34-year-old Robert Everett III of Coon Rapids, crossed the centerline just south of 320th Street and struck head-on with a northbound 2002 Chevrolet Town and Country van that was driven by 41-year-old Curtis Hofbauer Jr. of Coon Rapids.
The State Patrol crash report states the Jeep continued southbound after it hit the van and overturned. The van overturned as it was going into the east ditch. The State Patrol says both drivers were injured and taken to St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital in Carroll by Carroll County Ambulance and a passenger, Curtis Hofbauer Sr., age 76 of Coon Rapids was also injured and was transported by MercyOne to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The crash report indicates that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash and the passenger was not.
The Carroll, Greene and Guthrie County Sheriff’s Offices, Coon Rapids Fire Department, Churdan Rescue and Greene County Ambulance assisted at the scene, as the incident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
