Adel-DeSoto-Minburn senior diver Eliza Schmidt will be making a splash at Thursday’s regional meet in Marshalltown.

Schmidt is the only diver for ADM, who partners with the Waukee School District for swim and dive. She recently competed at the Central Iowa Metropolitan varsity meet on October 23rd, where she racked up a final score of 396.95, placing fifth in the 11-dive category. 

During the 2024 season, Schmidt broke the Waukee record, tallying an overall score of 407.65. She is hoping that her season continues following the regional meet, and is trying her best to form a friendly atmosphere on the team.

“I hope to place at state, and then also just create a good headspace and practice environment with my other divers.”

The other schools who will be participating in the regional diving meet include Burlington, Iowa City High, Iowa City West, Keokuk, Marshalltown, Newton, Southeast Polk, and Tipton. The diving meet is taking place at the Marshalltown YMCA-YWCA on Thursday at 5pm.
