The unofficial results are in for the city council and school board election within Dallas County.

According to the Dallas County Auditor’s Office, the newly proposed criminal court building bond referendum, which cost approximately $60.3 million, failed to pass the ballot for the second straight year. The ballot measure needed a super majority, meaning 60 percent of the votes, but 56.8 percent of Dallas County residents voted no, while 43.2 percent voted yes.

As for the contested races in Dallas County, Adel incumbent Mayor Jim Peters was defeated by Timothy Crannell, who received 60.4 percent of the votes. The Auditor’s Office reports that the Adel City Council were looking to fill two vacant seats, which will be occupied by Nate Hawkins, who gathered 41.2 percent of the votes, and Eric Trouts at 31.6 percent. For the Dallas Center City Council At-Large, Shellie Flockhart (37.7 percent) and Amanda Davison (32.5 percent) were appointed, beating out Kody Nielsen.

The Auditor’s Office notes that uncontested races in the city elections for Perry include Dirk Cavanaugh re-elected as mayor, Vicki Klein to remain Council At-Large, John Andorf filling a vacancy for Council At-Large, and Jeremy Mahler for City Council Ward 2.

In the uncontested races for the school board, Eddie Diaz and Travis Landgrebe have been voted on for the Perry School Director At-Large, then Melissa Dohlman and Becky Schrock will serve for the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School Director At-Large positions.

The votes are unofficial until the Dallas County Board of Supervisors conducts a two-tier canvass in the next couple of weeks. For the full unofficial results in Dallas County, click here.
