The Dallas County Conservation Board will be engaging in a treasure hunt with a fun interactive program on Saturday.
Outreach Coordinator Jeni Baker shares that the organization will take participants on an “Geocache for Trail Mix” adventure at the Kuehn Conservation Area. She highlights that the program will teach people how to utilize a Global Positioning System (GPS) unit to find geocache locations. Baker elaborates on how the event is going to work.
“They’ll give you a compass and they’ll tell you how to use it, and then you’ll start your way. And throughout your hike, you’ll find little pieces of trail mix, so once you’re done, you’ll have a nice tasty little treat that you’ll get to enjoy.”
Baker reveals that this is a first time program, and explains that geocaching has risen in popularity, so the Conservation Board wanted to orchestrate a fun event that families can be apart of. She concludes that the program is happening from 9:30-11:30am on Saturday for free, but asks that anyone interested must register online. The link to do so can be found by clicking here.
