Saturday there will be a fun outdoor event at Springbrook State Park.

Iowa Department of Natural Resources Interpretive Naturalist and Educator Anne Riordan says that she will be leading the Nature Prepares for Winter Hike at the park. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio why this can be a fun and enjoyable experience.

“It’s just, it’s beautiful out here with all the colors in the trees and we’re going to be kind of exploring to see what clues we can find about animals and plants that are just getting ready for the winter season that lies ahead.”

Riordan mentions that the hike will be from 1-3pm, and that afterwards they will go to the campground and make pudgy pies. She explains that pudgy pies are made with a special pie iron, and usually include bread as the crust, with different fillings. Riordan adds that the event is free to attend, but that she would appreciate it if individuals could make reservations by calling her at 641-295-6028 so that she has enough supplies for the pudgy pies.
