Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Volleyball senior Macy Person reflects on the faith her coaches had in her throughout her high school career.
Person appeared in all 32 matches during the 2025 season, finishing with 125 kills, 22 assists, 43 aces with about a 89 percent efficiency rate, then contributed with 181 digs and 32 blocks defensively. She shares that from her freshman to senior year, the coaching staff has been integral to developing her confidence, as well as adapting to playing with girls of different age groups. Person is extremely grateful for the opportunity to play volleyball all four years, and reveals her coaches are a big reason why.
“I would just give a huge thanks for everything they’ve done for me. This was the first fours that (Head Coach Trevor) Irwin was with us, so that was definitely a learning experience for him as well. And I think they just did a good job of always being there for us, and always asking if we needed anything.”
Person admits that she’s going to miss seeing her friends from the team on a daily basis, especially because they are girls that she grew up with. Following graduation, Person is planning to attend the University of Iowa with an emphasis in the nursing program.
