Nate Hawkins was a candidate running for one of two seats on the Adel City Council At-Large, and expresses his gratitude after finding out he was elected.

Hawkins tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he was closely watching the polls during Tuesday night’s city council and school board elections, constantly refreshing his phone for the latest updates. He mentions that just prior to the results coming in, he fell asleep and his wife woke him up to deliver the good news. Hawkins reveals that he couldn’t believe that he was selected.

“I was pretty shocked. I thought both Eric (Trout) and Randy (Cornelison) both ran good campaigns. So shocked and humbled.”

Hawkins explains that his plan with being on the Adel City Council is to improve the roads, ways to manage the growth of the community, as well as bringing new businesses with residents to town. Eric Trout was the other individual that was elected to the other At-Large City Council seat. The results are unofficial until the Dallas County Board of Supervisors conducts a two-tier canvass in the next couple of weeks.
