One person was thrown from their seat following a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway Interstate 80 near Dexter early Thursday morning.

According to Iowa State Patrol Sergeant Alex Dinkla, around 6:15am a 2021 Mitsubishi Silver Sedan driven by 58-year-old Sherri Jorgensen, of Exira, was traveling eastbound on I-80 when she allegedly lost control of her vehicle near mile marker 100 colliding with a 2022 Chevrolet White Silverado Truck, operated by 31-year-old Sean Renslow, of Stuart, on the front passenger side.

Dinkla says the impact caused the Sedan to rollover, ejecting a female passenger through the front windshield. He notes that Jorgensen’s Sedan was estimated to have $10,000 in damages and is totaled, while Renslow’s Silverado had $8,000 in disabling damage.

Dinkla reveals that Renslow did not receive medical attention, but that Jorgensen and her ejected passenger were both treated by the Dallas County Emergency Medical Services Department on site and were transported to the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He adds that Jorgensen was cited for an improper lane change.

The Iowa State Patrol and Dallas County Sheriff’s Office both responded to the crash. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
