The Stuart People Active for Library Service (PALS) will be hosting their final guest speaker of the year on Saturday.
PALS members Carol Brewer and Kathy Johnson say that the group is bringing in storyteller Darrin Crow, who will be giving his presentation “Morbid Curiosities: A Conversation with Edgar Allen Poe.” Poe is known for his dark stories and poems, and Johnson tells Raccoon Valley Radio part of why he may have written the stories that he did.
“Edgar Allen Poe, his life really is a comedy of tragedy. I mean, it’s just one tragedy after another. He was born in Boston, his father abandoned his family, and then his mother died the next year after his father abandoned them. And he had some people who stood in the gap, but they all got mad at each other and were estranged.”
Brewer mentions that Crow has been to the Stuart Public Library before, doing presentations during the summer three other times. She adds that his performance on Saturday will begin at 10am, and is free and open to the public.
