The 24th annual Perry Rotary Club Charity Auction and Dinner is happening tomorrow.
According to Rotarian Dirk Cavanaugh, the event will be at the Hotel Pattee, 1112 Willis Avenue, in Perry. He shares that during the auction last year, the rotary raised approximately $8,500 with money going towards providing scholarships to high school students, sponsor students to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, then give out awards to a selected Educator and recognize a first responder member as the Civil Servant of the Year. This year, Cavanaugh reveals the proceeds will help fund a local project in the community.
“We built an inclusive playground at Wiese Park a couple of years ago. So we made it wheelchair inclusive and we’re going to add a piece of equipment to that, plus some park benches for people to sit at and then some sunshades over the top.”
Cavanaugh highlights that items that will be auctioned off include gift cards to local businesses, a few pairs of Iowa State University Basketball tickets, gift baskets, and more. He mentions that the event is open to the public, with tickets costing $45, which is good for admission and dinner. Cavanaugh describes that tickets can be purchased by contacting him at (515)-333-1361 or will be available at the door tomorrow.
The silent auction begins at 5:30pm, followed by dinner at 6:15pm, and then concludes with the live auction at 7pm.
