Adel-DeSoto-Minburn senior Lauren Hagedorn has officially signed her letter of intent to play softball for Iowa State University following her final high school season in the summer.

Hagedorn was surrounded by family, teammates, and coaches on Wednesday during her signing day at ADM High School. She says that the main reason for choosing ISU was because of the homey environment of the Ames community, plus the coaching staff made her feel welcome. Hagedorn is already anticipating putting on the Cyclone uniform.

“Just ready to get to Ames and be able to start practicing with new teammates, and the coaching staff. I’ve really liked it there so far on the visits I’ve been (to) and I’m just super excited.”

She is undecided on a major at this moment. Hagedorn relishes in the competitiveness of softball and admits that as a pitcher, she loves having the ability to control the game. She details that in the offseason, she’ll be working on fine tuning her pitches and then continuing to be consistent on the hitting side of the ball. ADM concluded the 2025 season with a 29-9 record, as they went on to beat North Scott to achieve third place in Class 4A.
