The Greene County High School Vocal Department is hosting a fundraiser tomorrow.

Vocal Director Dave Heupel says the 5th Annual Mattress Fundraiser is taking place from 10am-5pm tomorrow in the high school commons. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that a company called Custom Fundraising Solutions will transform the commons area into a mattress showroom with several different types of beds set up for a no pressure situation for folks to try out and consider buying.

Heupel points out that the Vocal Department receives a percentage of the sales, so the more mattresses that are bought, the more they get to have. He reveals that the proceeds from this fundraiser are used for the trip to Worlds of Fun, where the students not only enjoy the amusement park, but also get to perform. Heupel describes a change that they are going to make for this fundraiser going forward.

“After this year, we’re going to go to every other year (and) just try to line that up with the Worlds of Fun trip that we do, to try to make that cost free for the kids.” 

Heupel originally came across the idea for this kind of fundraiser from other schools that have done it and been successful. He notes that five years ago, they made $8,000. He invites everyone to stop by and check out the Mattress Fundraiser tomorrow.
