The second and final day of the Iowa High School State Swimming Championships are today with all final events at the U. of Iowa facility in Iowa City. Greene County High School freshman Ava Hinote is a member of the Carroll High team through an athletic sharing agreement and she’ll be in two relays. Hinote is on the 200 yard freestyle relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay.
She told Raccoon Valley Radio she felt nervous at the Regional Meet in Ames last Saturday to qualify for State, but said she and her teammates will be going into the pool today more relaxed knowing they made it to State and it’s the final meet of the season, so they’ll give their best effort. All four girls on the relays Hinote is on are either freshmen or sophomores.
Swimming begins at noon today.
