The leader of the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District provides an overview of the plan for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Superintendent Greg Dufoe tells Raccoon Valley Radio that each Iowa school district is required by the Iowa Department of Education to comply with IDEA to help functional outcomes for all students with disabilities. He explains that ADM has a work team that’s regularly meeting with the district’s Special Education Teachers and illustrates the tool they’ve been using as a model.

“And the cornerstone of that learning is around a book called “Six Shifts” in the realm of special education. As we’re really dissecting that book, identifying our current reality and what moves we want to aspire to based on that professional text and special education.”

Dufoe details that the book is setting a good foundation for the ground work to assist Special Education Teachers and students.
