Adair – Casey Guthrie Center FFA members were at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on November 6th.
FFA Advisor Skie Shull shares that there were three teams that traveled to take part in the Iowa Pork Judging Contest, and competed against 70 different schools or organizations, which sent 136 teams that were made up of a total of 510 people in the high school division. Member Rylee Robson shares what it felt like to place highly at the event as an individual and with her team.
“It feels good, like we accomplished something. We’ve been working really hard for it and all summer we’ve been going to different farms and doing a whole bunch of other events to lead up to this. We’ve gone to the state competition for FFA too, and all of them we’ve placed within the top five or 10 percent. We’ve been doing good and I hope to just continue that streak.”
The team of Robson, Gracie Hodges and Irelyn Wirt took 9th place, while the team of Tessa Slaybaugh, Taryn Carroll and Alli Wiers received 40th, and the team of Cash Suhr, Creighton Suhr and Reece Emgarten finished 43rd. Four members placed in the top 20 percent of individuals that competed, with Robson taking 23rd, Hodges finishing 31st, Weirs placing 46th and Wirt taking 96th.
