The Guthrie Center School Board met in regular session Wednesday night.
The Board technically held three meetings on the night, beginning with the annual meeting of the retiring Board. Here they approved the abstract of votes for the 2025 election, along with bids for the high school front stairs project, and recognized retiring Board member Brian Sheeder. Then the organizational meeting began, with the Board secretary administering the oath of office to re-elected member Kris Langgaard, and new member Adam Franzeen, then new Board President Tate Stetzel was sworn in before taking over the meeting.
Stetzel gave the oath of office for Langgaard who was voted the new Board Vice President, and then the Board once again named Carla Mahaffey the Title IX/Equity Coordinator, adopted Robert’s Rule of Order for meetings, and set the meeting date, time and place as the third Wednesday of each month at 7pm, to alternate between the AC/GC High School and Junior High, with the option for them and the Adair – Casey Board to meet individually instead of jointly as needed.
The Board then named the News Gazette as the official publication, and Ahlers and Cooney as legal counsel. The organizational meeting adjourned, and then the regular meeting began. The Board heard updates from Elementary Principal Tandem Eischeid and High School Principal Cody Matthewson, along with an update from Superintendent Josh Rasmussen. They then approved the Grandwood Consortium agreement, the sale of bus 12, to purchase a Toro mower from NAPA in Panora for $9,341, and the first reading of the 600 to 900 series of board policies.
