(L-R): Lucy Vander Linden, Carter Petterson and William Graham

Tonight is the annual Iowa High School Music Association All-State Festival in Ames and Greene County High School will be represented.

Seniors Carter Petterson, Lucy Vander Linden and William Graham qualified for the Iowa High School Music Association (IHSMA) All-State Choir. For Petterson, this is his second consecutive year at All-State, as he shares his thoughts on making it two years in a row.

“Last year I was really excited to make it in general because I had the two other people that I worked with, we had a really strong connection. But this year, I’ve known these people and I knew that since I made it last year I could make it again, or at least get really close or just improve. I’m really grateful to make it my senior year knowing that it is my last year that I can make it and I can audition. There’s really nothing like this in the college experience making it like this. So I’m glad I could make it for two years.”

Vander Linden talks about her unique perspective, having her older brother Gavin make it to All-State when he was in high school.

“I have attended the All-State Festival the past however long it’s been since my brother made it his first year. And I’m really excited to be in the stands with the other singers instead of just listening and knowing the songs, and I think that’s really cool that I’m going to be able to do that.”

The All-State Music Festival Concert is at 7:30pm in Hilton Coliseum on the campus of Iowa State University.
