A few grants have found their way to the Guthrie County Conservation Board and other entities housed with them.

Conservation Director Brad Halterman says that the Board received one of the 2025 grants from the Guthrie County Community Foundation (GCCF), and that they used those funds to improve signage on the way to their shop, and at Lenon Mill Park in Panora. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the signs were secured in an attempt to help make sure individuals knew where they were going, especially as the Conservation Department’s shop and the city’s shop are very close together. Halterman shares that there has been a lot of good feedback from the public.

“We’ve gotten a lot of really good positive comments from both of the signs, but the big one down at Lenon Mill, a lot of folks have really complimented us on that sign and how it enhances the park and really fits the park with the color scheme and everything else.”

Halterman mentions that the Guthrie County Historical Village Foundation also received a GCCF grant, and used the funds to repaint the museums and administrative building so that it is all one color. He adds that they were able to install a shaded sitting area in the courtyard by the building.
