The Mustangs girls wrestling team was in action Saturday morning at the Urbandale Invitational hosted by the Urbandale Jayhawks, which saw 19 teams compete.
After dropping all the tri-meet duals, DCG looked to bounce back yesterday, and bounce back they did. The Mustangs placed third as a team, and a number of wrestlers earned top finishes. Among them were Georgia Edwards, Addyson Bowers, Jenah Gray, Nia Kiley, and Aubrey Borcherding. Edwards was the winner by fall in 3:23, pinning Katarina Runyon of WDM Wrestling in the 105 lbs class to place first.
Bowers was the other first-place winner among the Mustangs, taking the 125 weight class. Kiley and Gray both pinned their opponents in under a minute with :48 and :25 respectively. Jenah fell in the championship round and earned second place, while Nia took the win in her final match of the day to place third.
Borcherding did well in the 190 class, making it all the way to the final match for second place. All in all, eight wrestlers on the DCG roster placed in the top five at the invitational. The Mustangs look to keep it up on December 1st, at the W-G Dual.
