Jayettes basketball began the 2025-26 season with a victory defeating the Hoover Huskies at Hoover High School on Monday night. Perry picked up the victory defeating Hoover 45-34.
The Jayettes found success on both sides of the ball, holding the Huskies under ten points each quarter. Perry secured the lead in the first quarter and never looked back, entering halftime ahead 24-17. Lily Myers and Karagyn Whelchel helped push Perry towards the 45-34 victory, as Myers ended the night with a double double, 20 points and 15 rebounds while Whelchel sank five threes pointers from beyond the arc.
Myers, Whelchel and the Jayettes secure the season opener victory over the Hoover Huskies, and look to keep momentum on their side after a break from competition due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.
