The DCG Mustangs girls basketball team brings the Comets down to Earth in a 56-33 victory against North Polk Tuesday night.

It was a total team effort in the second game of the season for DCG. Sophomore Ava Smid was the star of the show as she led all scorers with 17 points and gobbled up multiple rebounds and blocked four shots. Junior Tessa Jones had 11 points, including a couple of threes, while senior point guard Leah Brauch dropped 10 points. Macy Meyer had a quieter game by her standards, but she still scored in every quarter, ending up in double digits.

Adam Jones had previously said he thinks this current Mustangs team might be the most athletic defensive team he’s ever coached, and the Mustangs kept up the pressure all night long, holding the Comets to just one player who had nine points.

Now at 2-0, DCG gets some time off with Thanksgiving break, but is in action Tuesday, December 2nd, at home against ADM.
