One AC/GC Chargers girls basketball junior is excited for the 2025-26 season.

Olivia Mahaffey says that there’s a lot of skill on the team, both from returners from last year, and in some new faces to the team this year. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio how the start of the season has felt so far.

“I felt like already in practice, we’re already that much closer together. I mean, Shay (Lemke) was a great impact on our team, but she’s only one person. We have five freshmen coming up, and it’s really nice to be able to play with them and all the seniors from last year. We played with them for three years now, and I feel like our connection is really there, and I feel like we’re already a tight bond. And the season just started, so I really think that this year’s gonna be that much better and we’re already connected so I think it’s just gonna improve from here.”

Mahaffey mentions that the freshmen are already doing very well, especially with how tough the transition from middle school to high school can be. She adds that the five girls are short and scrappy, which really helps with giving the defense a workout.
