West Central Valley junior Wrestler Willow Ray shares how the sport has taught her about balancing her schedule and commitment to a specific task.

Ray and the Wildcats have competed in two meets so far this season, with the first one at home in Stuart on November 17th and then went to Southwest Valley High School in Corning last Saturday, November 22nd. Ray wrestlers at the weight class of 130 pounds and was the first female state wrestling qualifier in West Central Valley history a year ago. She describes that the sport has taught her quite a bit about time management and discipline.

“Just knowing when you need to schedule things and sticking to it. And things you need to eat because you do not need to starve yourself to make weight and to maintain your weight. You just need to be disciplined in what you are eating and what you’re putting in your body.”

During the Southwest Valley Girls Tournament, Ray defeated Sannia Leflore from Earlham, Alexis Dofner from Griswold, Charlie Mertes from Clarinda and Lilly Strandberg from Earlham. The Wildcats will travel to Manson Northwest Webster High School on Monday for their next competition beginning at 5pm.
