West Central Valley junior wrestler Willow Ray won first place in weight class 130 pounds on Monday at the Manson Northwest Webster Girls Invitational.
The Wildcats competed in a field of 11 schools. Ray was able to defeat Manson NW Webster’s Kylea Birkey in a fall lasting 33 seconds, followed by beating Pocahontas Area’s Cara Kerns in a fall (45 seconds), then faced off against Sioux Central’s Jessa Prins in the championship match getting her to fall in 24 seconds.
West Central Valley junior Rhowen Miller (140 lbs.) captured third place after getting Ogden’s Kinley Hare to fall in 12 seconds. Wildcats’ Janae Dukes (155 lbs.) tallied third over Eagle Grove’s Keely Peterson, Gracie Sloss (170 lbs.) marked third place, while WCV’s Lorelei Grinnell (115 lbs.) fell to GTRA’s Trista Guinn in the fifth place match.
West Central Valley will return to the mat on Thursday at Wayne Community High School for a Quadrangular, starting at 5:30pm.
