
Zach Beekman began his second stint as the head wrestling coach for the Greene County Rams on Tuesday night. Van Meter hosted the Rams and Ogden with Greene County going 0-2 on the first night of competition for all three squads.Ogden went 2-0 and VM 1-1. The Rams lost 34-27 to Van Meter’s Bulldogs and 48-24 to Ogden’s Bulldogs.
There were just seven contested matches vs. VM with the Rams going 4-3 in those matches. The Rams went 0-6 in contested matches vs. Ogden. Rams going 2-0 last night were juniors Jaron Jacobs with a win by fall and other by forfeit, Degan Miller with a fall and a forfeit and Mason Haley with two wins via forfeit. Junior Brennan Jacobs and Jaron Jacobs each went 1-0 with wins by fall. Sophomore Kole Johnson-Peterson won by forfeit and freshman Kading Winters was 1-1 with a win by fall.
Greene County heads northeast on Friday for the Dec. 5-6 Cliff Keen Independence Invitational. The 32 team field consists of teams mainly from Iowa, but some from Wisconsin and Missouri.
