At the previous Greene County School Board meeting, the organizational portion saw a few changes.

The leadership of the Board itself had an adjustment, with Cindi Daubendiek continuing to be Board President, after she won her re-election bid in November. The Board then voted to have as its Vice-President, Tim Riphagen, with Michelle Fields previously serving in that position, but she did not seek re-election this past November and stepped off the Board. Superintendent Brett Abbotts shares his thoughts on those individuals in those capacities moving forward for the rest of the school year.

“I think that continuity was a big point of emphasis there with Cindi retaining that presidency role and then Tim wanting to assert himself into that role as Vice President, which you know, yes he was nominated and it was voted upon, but he’s expressed some desire to be in that role.”

During the Board committee assignments, a new entity was created called Communications, and Abbotts emphasis that this new committee will examine marketing and disseminating the positivity of the school district, and not just highlighting the things that are being worked on to improve something within the district.

“But really making sure that we’re elevating what it is that we’re doing on a daily basis. We have so much great work happening within our schools, and from our staff, and from our students that we want to do a much better job of making sure that we highlight and just that we’re really making sure that we’re getting our message out to the entire school district and the entire community, and not just a select group or a smaller group.”

Abbotts adds that with the committee being so new, details as far as knowing if other people will serve on it will be finalized, but that Daubendiek and Board member Megan Holz are on it.
