The Adair Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Christmas Extravaganza and the 29th annual Festival of Trees today, signaling the start of the holiday season.

The event runs from 1-4pm at the Adair Community Center and will feature vendors, cookie decorating, free face painting, hot cocoa, coffee, and live music. Earlier in the day, the Adair Library is open from 10am to noon with a Children’s Christmas Shop, where all items are only 50 cents.

The festivities continue at the Adair Fire Hall from 2-7pm with a display of trees, wreaths, and nativity scenes, a scavenger hunt, and apple cider and popcorn. A free-will donation for local scholarships and community projects will be accepted, and attendees will have a chance to win a tree. Later, from 4:30-7pm, the Adair Lions Club will host a free-will donation soup supper at the fire hall. The Little Big Band will provide live music from 4:30-6:30pm, and Santa will pay a visit from 5-6 p.m.
