The holidays are coming early to Minburn during today’s Celebrating Christmas Cheer event.

Minburn Library Director Norah Case says the activities will kick off with the Jingle Bell Store from 10 a.m. to noon. Kids will be able to pick out free items for their parents or siblings. While today is the big push for the free shopping event, Case adds that the Jingle Bell Store will be set up through next week at the library.

The festivities will continue this evening with the lighting of the nativity scene at 5 p.m. in Meek Park. Case says that several individuals will sing carols and a bin will be available for community members to drop in donations for the food pantry.

Additionally, Case notes that a soup supper will round out the evening from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Minburn Methodist Church and Santa will be on hand for photos. The library will also provide some easy crafts for the children to enjoy during the event.

Case adds that baskets from the library’s silent auction will be available for community members to view and bid on during the soup supper. The baskets will also be on display at the library through December 14. Case says that all of the auction proceeds will support the library.
