The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Basketball Teams were in action on Friday in Alleman, taking on the North Polk Comets, as the girls fought well, but lost 56-44 and the boys shot lights out to roll to a 63-25 victory.

In the girls game, the contest was close throughout the first quarter, as North Polk led ADM 13-11. The Comets would keep the advantage in the second quarter, with the Tigers staying in striking distance, but found themselves trailing 24-18 at the halftime break. However, North Polk extended their lead to 32-21 with four minutes left in the third quarter, before ADM responded with a 14-2 run to end the quarter, and possess a 35-34 advantage heading into the fourth. Then, the Comets erupted for 22 points in the final frame, including a string of three consecutive three pointers from sophomore Sophia Bouchard, who finished with 17, to capture the 56-44 victory.

North Polk junior Campbell Schulz had 15 points, while sophomore Jaslyn Rasmussen chipped in with 11. Leading all scores was ADM sophomore Ella Subbert, who had 18 points, followed by junior Alexis Maxwell with 12, and senior Brecken Morse with 7.

The Comets improve to 2-1 on the year, while the Tigers drop to 0-4.

In the boys game, ADM came out with a statement, quickly racking up points on their way to a 22-6 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter completely belonged to the Tigers, as they outscored the Comets 17-2 to be in control at 39-8 at the half. ADM senior Hudson Lorensen already had 24 points at the break. The lead would continue to grow in the third quarter, as the Tigers stretched it out to 53-15, before the bench came in in the fourth to finish the game at 63-25.

Loresen concluded the night with 27 points, then it was senior Trey Bryte contributing with 11, and senior Hayden Dohlman with 5. North Polk was charged by senior Jack Spieker with 9 points, then senior Chase Krings had 5 points.

The Comets fall to 1-2 on the year, while the Tigers stay unbeaten at 2-0. North Polk will return home to Alleman on Tuesday, welcoming in Gilbert, while ADM will play in Adel for the first time this season, hosting Carroll on Tuesday.
