Volunteers and donations are needed for Perry’s Christmas Dinner.
Deb Miller, who helps organize the annual event, says volunteers are still needed. While the morning shifts are full, she adds that volunteers are needed for the afternoon, 12-1:30 p.m., and clean-up, 1:30-3 p.m. on Christmas Day.
The annual dinner will return on Thursday, December 25 at the Perry Elks Lodge, 2823 Willis Avenue. The free meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The menu includes turkey, ham, pork loin, mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, salads and desserts.
While organizations and churches provide the salads and desserts, Miller says she is still looking for a few more pies. She adds that donations of cookies and homemade candy are always welcome for goodie bags that are handed out to attendees.
Those interested in donating cookies or homemade candy can drop them off from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on December 24 or before 10 a.m. on December 25 at the Perry Elks Lodge.
Miller says bags of wrapped candy are also needed to spread out on the tables for attendees to enjoy while eating their meal.
Those interested in volunteering or donating pies or bags of candy should contact Miller at 515-465-3740.
