A Perry woman was recently arrested for an alleged theft incident in Jefferson.
According to court documents, the Jefferson Police Department was notified on September 5th by Cobblestone Inn and Suites that one of its employees was possibly doing fraudulent activity through its rewards program. During the investigation, the person in question, 36-year-old Ashleigh Messer of Perry, admitted to checking guests into the hotel and attaching her email address to that guest in order to receive reward points. Court documents show that Messer also told police that she would turn those points into gift cards that she would buy herself things.
The criminal complaint states that Messer also claimed to use another person’s email address as to not draw attention to what she was doing. The affidavit shows that the Cobblestone Corporate office was able to verify that Messer had allegedly been doing the fraudulent activity since June of 2024 and the total amount of money was $10,051.
An arrest warrant was issued on November 25th charging Messer with a Class C Felony for first degree theft. She was arrested in Perry on November 29th and was booked into the Greene County Jail under a $10,000 cash or surety bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
