The Tri-Center (Neola) Trojans were non-conference basketball winners in Churdan on Monday night vs. Paton-Churdan. The girls’ final was 44-32 and the boys’ game ended with a 76-50 score. The T-C girls are 2-1 and the boys 2-0 while both P-C teams fell to 0-3.
Coach Tom Kennedy’s girls’ team had their cloest game of the season. Junior Alivya Smith scored 16 points to lead the Rockets. Her scoring included three goals from three-point range. Freshman Edynn Smith had six points and junior Kaliyah Minnihan added five.
Josh Cerveny is the P-C boys’ coach. He told Raccoon Valley Radio his team played a great first quarter and a half. “The last four minutes of the first half and first four of the second half is where we lost the game. We have to get better reacting to adversity. We have to continue to work hard and get better every day. We don’t enough depth right now to compete hard the whole 32 minutes.” Senior Phoenix Hartman scored 15 points for P-C with nine apiece by sophomore Damen Rice and junior Blaise Schilling. Junior Bryce Stephenson had seven rebounds with five each from Peyton Minnehan, Rice, and Landon Vote.
