The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Basketball Teams came away victorious on Tuesday in their home opener versus Carroll, as the girls won 57-30 and the boys charged by at 73-52.

For the Tiger girls, they came out with good pace, leading the first quarter 13-5. The advantage would stretch to 10 by halftime, with the score at 22-12. ADM really broke the game open in the second half, outscoring Carroll 35-18 to roll to a 57-30 victory.

The Tigers won the first game of the season and first Raccoon River Conference victory, sitting at 1-4, with sophomore Aubrey Noring leading the way with 14 points, followed by senior Ellis Smith and sophomore Ella Subbert with 11 points a piece. Carroll falls to 2-2 on the year.

Throughout the first five games of the season, ADM has gotten great minutes from freshmen Macie Leinen and Kimbal Shull, as well as juniors Grace Montag and Bella Spreaker, and Noring says that having a solid bench is huge.

“Everyone is going to have an off-night, and to have a good group of girls that can come in and really make a difference and fill in when you need them to, that’s great just to know that you have back up, and to know that they’re going to do a great job at handling the ball, making their shots (and) playing good defense when you need them. So it’s really great to have them and our bench is deep this year, and it’s been awesome.”

In the boys game, ADM was looking to stay undefeated, remaining hot getting 20 points in the first quarter to take a 20-6 advantage into the second. With 17 more points in the second quarter, ADM was in a comfortable position at the half at 37-19. The offense picked up for Carroll in the third quarter, scoring 20 points, but ADM’s 26 would have them in a dominant lead at 63-39, and cruise to a 73-52 victory.

ADM had three players in double figures with senior Hayden Dohlman’s 19, followed by senior Hudson Lorensen with 18 points, and senior Hudson Shull contributing with 14. Carroll had three players as well with senior Jared Mohr leading with 18, then it was senior Mac Collison with 16, and senior Moyer Olberding finishing with 13 points. Carroll drops to 1-1 on the year, while ADM goes to 3-0 (1-0 RRC).

Carroll will return home to host Storm Lake on Saturday, and ADM will invite Winterset into Adel on Friday.
