This Saturday the Mary J Barnett Memorial Library will be holding their annual Festival of Trees Bake Sale and Kids Craft.
Director Jerri Hawkins mentions that they currently have several trees dressed up in gold and silver ornaments that many individuals, businesses and groups from the community have put up to decorate for the Christmas season. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio why the Friends of the Guthrie Center Library put together the bake sale and kids craft.
“They were hoping to kind of encourage people to come in and see the Festival of Trees because it’s been one of those things we haven’t been able to get people to come look at them and we just feel like they’re really missing out on how beautiful our community library is.”
Hawkins mentions that individuals can donate baked goods for the sale and bring them in by end of day Friday. She adds that this event gives families an opportunity to check out some beautiful Christmas decorations without braving the cold too much, and to grab some treats in the process.
