
To kick off the week for Perry basketball, the Bluejays and Jayettes hosted the PCM Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action. Perry fought valiantely, falling in both matches, 56-24 for the Jayettes and 74-35 for the boys.
The Jayettes started strong against PCM, keeping the game close but just behind PCM 8-6 in the first and 15-10 entering halftime. Coming back from the break, PCM came out with a fire, outscoring Perry 23-9 in the final half. Junior Lily Myers lead the team in points and rebounds falling just short of a double double, scoring seven points with 16 rebounds with Kate Schuttler behind her with nine rebounds.
The Bluejays fell behind PCM in the first quarter and could not catch back up, down to the Mustangs 34-19 at halftime. Gustavo Drahos and Gavin Leslie both ended the night for Perry with nine points each, leading the charge for the Bluejays but a 29 point second quarter for PCM would secure the Mustang victory over Perry 74-35.
The 1-3 Bluejays return to action on Thursday, playing host to Boone with tip of at 7:30pm with coverage beginning on KDLS at 7:15. The 2-3 Jayettes return to action on Friday, for double header action against Roland-Story with tip off schedule for 6pm.
