A Jefferson woman was recently arrested for alleged felony drug possession.

According to court documents, a search warrant was executed by the Jefferson Police Department on September 6th at a residence, due to the odor of marijuana coming from the home. Court documents show that several drug-related items were found, including some items that tested positive for methamphetamine, along with a biggie that contained 11.56 grams of marijuana and other black baggies that had a green leafy substance.

Following the executed search warrant, court documents indicate that an arrest warrant was issued on December 1st charging 25-year-old Melanie Smith with a Class D Felony for gathering where controlled substances are used and a serious misdemeanor for her first offense for possession of methamphetamine. She was arrested on December 9th, booked into the Greene County Jail and was released after posting a $6,000 bond.

Court documents report that officers previously executed a search warrant this past June at the same residence due to the odor of marijuana and Smith has been charged in that case as well. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
