An individual who has served on the Greene County Medical Center Board of Trustees is retiring at the end of this year.
According to the medical center, Kim Bates has been on the GCMC Board of Trustees for 16 years and says it has been a privilege to be involved in the cultural advancements that the CEO Chad Butterfield has established. He notes that one of the major highlights for him is working with the senior leadership team and other board members on patient care and ensuring they have the services they need. Bates believes that having the medical center’s own MRI machine would not happen without the foresight of the board for designing a room for it.
Bates thanks the other board members, staff and community for allowing him to serve on the Board of Trustees. His wife Sherry, also recently retired as the President of the Iowa Board of Regents and they live on a farm south of Scranton.
According to the medical center, Bill Monroe will be filling the rest of Bates’ term on the Board. The medical center says Monroe has over 60 years of healthcare experience and is the former owner of Jefferson Medicap Pharmacy. He is also involved with the Greene County Community Foundation Board, the First Presbyterian Church Board, the Bell Tower Community Foundation, as well as the Jefferson Kiwanis Club and The Children’s Center Board. There are three years left on Bates’ four-year term.
