Greene County hosted Nevada in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy basketball on Tuesday night in Jefferson. The action was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. It was the first of three twin bills at home for the Rams this week. Roland-Story (Story City) visits the Rams on Friday and the Glidden-Ralston teams play a make-up doubleheader in Jefferson Saturday afternoon.

Tuesday night vs. Nevada saw the visiting team win the girls’ game 68-52 and then take the boys’ contest 54-19. The Nevada girls entered the game eight for 64 on the season from three point range, but they made nine of 26 vs. the Rams and had five players score in double figures. Junior Tori Hillman had 15 points with 14 from sophomore Aiva Sheets, 13 by Emilee Kelly, a senior, 12 for sophomore Avyn Heintz, and 10 from sophomore Olivia Jensen. the Rams got 28 points from senior Becca Anderson and was the lone Ram to score in double figures. The Rams fell to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the league while the Cubs improved to 3-2, 2-1.

The boys from Nevada won 54-19 and are now 4-0 overall and 3-0 in conference games after holding the Rams to just 19 points, by far a season low. The Rams have lost five straight and are 1-5, 0-4. Senior Carter Hinote had seven points for the Rams and junior Zack Stalder came off the bench with six points and a team leading eight rebounds. The Cubs had 12 points from senior Drake Hinson and 11 by senior John Nelson.
