Coach Zach Beekman’s Greene County High School wrestling team was at home last night for the first time this season and went 1-1 in dual meets with Saydel (Des Moines) and Woodbine. The Rams and Eagles wrestled first in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference action with Greene County winning by a 39-30 score. The night ended with Woodbine topping the Rams 54-24. Greene County is now 1-7 in dual meets and forfeited weight classes have been a big reason why dual meets have been difficult to win. Down two regulars due to injury and vacation, the Rams forfeited a total of five times while collecting six forfeits over the course of the evening. There were two weights vs. Saydel and one vs. Woodbine where neither team had an entry so there was no match at those weights. Woodbine is now 4-1 on the season while Saydel stands at 0-5.

Greene County wrestlers going 2-0 last night were Brennan Jacobs, ranked number six in Class 2A at 106 lbs., Degan Miller, ranked 12th at 165, Jaron Jacobs at 120 lbs., and Kading Winters at 138. Winters is a freshman and the others are juniors.

The Rams finish the December portion of the schedule tomorrow in Carroll at the Carroll High Tiger Invitational starting at 10 a.m.
