
The Paton-Churdan and Glidden-Ralston basketball teams played a Rolling Valley Activities Conference girl/boy doubleheader on Friday night in Churdan. G-R won the girls’ game 64-30 and P-C won 66-58 in the boys’ contest.
G-R senior Cassidy Wenck scored 20 points to lead all scorers and Bryn Renze added 13 points. The Rockets had no one score more than six points. Junior Kaliyah Minnihan and freshman Chloe Happe each scored six points with five from junior Alivya Smith. The Rockets are 1-6 and the Wildcats are 4-2.
The P-C boys are 3-4 overall and G-R fell to 0-6. Junior Trevon Keely scored 27 points for the Rockets and senior Cayden Stream added 23. Senior Phoenix Hartman and junior Blaise Schilling each added eight points for the Rockets. Unofficially, Keely had 11 rebounds with junior Bryce Stephenson at nine. Keely and Stephenson each recorded four steals. P-C head coach Josh Cerveny told Raccoon Valley Radio his players gave a great team effort to end a long week. “After the tough loss last night, we were able to get the win. Very proud of our team. Now it’s time to get better over break.”
The P-C teams have concluded the December portion of their schedules. G-R plays a makeup gir/boy doubleheader this afternoon in Jefferson vs. Greene County on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The girls play at 2:30 p.m. with the boys to follow.
