Perry will be lit up with luminaries during a Light the Night of Remembrance on January 4.

Wellness and Renewal Coordinator Kris Finn says the Perry Community School District invites local and area residents to join in a special evening of remembrance and unity.

The district encourages residents to place luminaries on their front porch from 5-7 p.m. on January 4. Finn details that the lights will serve as a symbol of reflection and community strength following the Perry High School shooting on January 4, 2024.

Luminary kits will be available locally at Perry Elementary, Middle or High Schools between 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on January 2 or on January 3 at the McCreary Community Building or Perry Public Library, while supplies last.

While luminaries will be provided locally, Finn says that the district invites surrounding communities to join by creating their own displays.
