Greene County Activities Director Dave Wright told Raccoon Valley Radio the district does technically not have girls’ wrestling as an activity. That being said, 10 or so middle school girls went out for wrestling, doubling the number of boys that went out. The AD added the district has been able to find some matches for the girls, and a survey among students was taken to see if a sustainable girls’ wrestling program was viable.
Wright said the survey results have been turned in to the school board and it’s a school board decision. He added there is some community support to start it as well. The AD added he thought the issue would be taken up early in 2026 as to whether or not girls’ wrestling in the Greene County School District would be added next school year.
