Greene County teams will soon be resuming practices for the post-Christmas portion of Winter sports seasons. Ram girls and boys basketball will be the first of the Greene County teams to compete in January when they go to Des Moines on Friday, Jan. 2 to face the Saydel teams in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. It’s one of the few times the teams have started basketball in January before classes resume from the break for the Holidays. Greene County schools go back to class on Monday, Jan. 5.
Rams wrestling competes for the first time in 2026 on Jan. 5 in makeup action in Story City vs. Roland-Story and West Marshall (State Center), then go to Nevada on Jan. 6 vs. the host Cubs and Perry Blue Jays. Ram bowlers get “rolling” on Thursday, Jan. 8 in Jefferson vs. Coon Rapids-Bayard.
