A local bank made contributions to help provide food necessities around Dallas County.

Marketing Manager Brooke Ruddy says Raccoon Valley Bank recently donated $2,500 to the Dallas Center Food Pantry, Good Samaritan Food Pantry, Grimes Storehouse and Perry Food Pantry. She adds that funds are given every year to food pantries in the communities the bank serves in Adel, Dallas Center, Grimes and Perry.

Ruddy details that the donations are provided through the Raccoon Valley Bank Charitable Foundation. She explains the importance of giving back to the local food pantries through the foundation at the end of each year.

“We’ve been in these communities for so long. That’s important because we’re a local, community bank and part of that is giving back. It’s so important because we want the community to thrive and we care about everyone. The foundation really makes that a priority.”

Ruddy adds that the Raccoon Valley Bank is also donating $1,500 to four local organizations through Jeans for a Cause. She details that bank employees pay a weekly fee to wear jeans on Fridays and the money is split between nonprofits at the end of the year.

Organizations receiving the funds include Raccoon River Pet Rescue, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa, Iowa Homeless Youth Shelters and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Des Moines.
