The leader of the West Central Valley Girls Wrestling Team expresses her positive assessment of the first half of the season.

The Wildcats have participated in seven meets so far this year, and Head Coach Amanda Carl says that all the athletes are working hard during practices and are steadily improving day by day. She notes that the coaching staff helps the girls see the losses as learning opportunities, then finds ways to develop their technique ahead of their next competition. Carl highlights that junior wrestlers Willow Ray and Rhowen Miller are doing an excellent job of pushing the younger girls along.

“They’ve both been exceptional this year. We’ve been battling with some injuries, but we’re coming back full force, and hopefully at the beginning of the (new) year, we can stay healthy and go forward.”

Carl emphasizes that the girls will be practicing over winter break, with some days off to spend with their families, as they prepare for their eighth meet on January 3rd at Clarinda High School.
