The Greene County wrestling team jumps into a busy January with action on the 5th and 6th days of the month. Coach Zach Beekman’s Rams face Roland-Story and West Marshall (State Center) in Story City in a make triangular on the 5th, then travel to Nevada on Jan. 6 vs. the host Cubs and Perry Blue Jays.

Activities Director Dave Wright told Raccoon Valley Radio Coach Beekman and his staff do a great job managing a wide gap of mat time in the practice room. Juniors Brennan Jacobs, Jaron Jacobs, and Degan Miller, all won matches at the 2025 State Tournament, while others on the team did not wrestle at all until this season.

The Rams are also low on numbers and can’t come close to filling all 14 weight classes. They stand at 1-7 in dual meets, but did finish fourth among 10 teams on Dec. 20 at the Carroll High Tiger Invitational with Brennan Jacobs at 106 lbs. and Miller at 165 winning individual titles. Jaron Jacobs was second at 120 lbs.
