Head Coach Adam Jones has split his season into three parts: pre-Christmas, January, and February/postseason basketball. With his girls 8-0, they have completely dominated Act I of the season.
They started off the 2025 campaign with impressive wins against Ballard and North Polk, but the coaching staff was not happy with the turnovers and sloppy play from DCG in those two games. That didn’t stop the Mustangs as they chalked it up to early-season struggles and learning each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
The home opener against ADM was a good test, but the girls came out on top before traveling to face off against the Lady Lions of Des Moines Christian. Ranked #3 in 3a basketball, DMC played DCG tough, but the Mustangs found their rhythm defensively and held the Lady Lions to just 40 points.
That game propelled them to three consecutive blowout wins to make it eight wins in a row to open up the season and jump DCG to an 8-0 record. Upcoming, the grind of Act II, January basketball, and multiple conference games, sometimes even coming in the same week. From here on out, the Mustangs will have their work cut out for them, but this team is up to the challenge.
