A new chief judge has been appointed to the largest judicial district in Iowa that includes Greene County.

According to the Iowa Judicial Branch, Iowa Supreme Chief Justice Susan Christensen named Judge Amy Moore as the new Chief Judge of the Second Judicial District. The Iowa Judicial Branch says Moore was first appointed as a district court judge in April of 2019. She graduated from Iowa State University in 1999 and then earned her law degree from Creighton University in 2002. She also served as the Story County magistrate and is a member of the Iowa State and Story County Bar Associations and the Iowa Judges Association.

The Iowa Judicial Branch states that Moore will take over on January 1st for the retiring Chief Judge Gregg Rosenbladt, who will still serve as a district court judge. The Iowa Judicial Branch says the Second Judicial District is the largest geographical area in the state, comprising 22 counties, including Greene County.
